| Collaboration across
sites is being coordinated with a revolutionary web platform called
CHEF. CHEF stands for CompreHensive collaborativE Framework and was
developed for distance learning and research collaboration purposes
by the University of Michigan.
This open source collaborative environment allows for extensive
configurability and customizability for users and administrators.
Web services offered through CHEF can be centralized/decentralized
as needed. There are endless numbers of collaboration tools that
can be used with the system such as lab notebooks, dicussion forums,
realtime chat environments, data repositories and storage, data
viewing as well as many others.
TO ACCESS CHEF:
One of the first activities that can be done by researchers and
engineers coming to use the NEES facility at Cornell University
or even if you are a prospective user of the facility, is to create
yourself a CHEF account on our local point of presence (NEESpop
server). You can do this by visiting the following URL: http://neespop.nees.cornell.edu
or by using the login located in the right toolbar on this page. You will need to accept the security certificate when asked.
On this front logon page you’ll see recent news as well as
a Cornell site contact for the NEESpop.
